My brother often attends extra classes, lectures and rarely sees him come home and study for an hour.
But surprisingly, he also got high marks in the exam.
But for me, there is nothing more disgusting than attending hours of lectures. Personally, I like to study alone by reading a lecture note or book from a quiet environment.
So it became clear to me that the learning styles we learn from each other are different.
According to the VARK model, auditory learners are one type of group from 4 types of learners.
According to that model, I am a Visual Learner and my younger brother is an Auditory Learner.
Auditory learners definition
Auditory learners definition: Students who can learn easily by listening to conversations, lectures, etc. are defined as auditory learners.
Auditory learners have a strong listening and speaking ability.
what is auditory learner?
Basically, there are 4 learning styles as visual kinesthetic auditory and read-write.
Auditory learning means that a student learns more effectively by listening.
How does an auditory learner learn best?
Auditory learner learn best by listening to a lecture than reading a textbook.
Auditory Learners Characteristics
1.Record lectures & lessons to listen again
Several times I saw a friend I met in the biology class I attended recording lectures.
When I asked him about it, he told me that he would hear those records over and over again at home.
He also said that he was lazy to read a note or a handout.
But personally, I try hard not to fall asleep even when the lecture is live.
Now I feel that he listens to those lectures again and again because he is an auditory learner.
But in the days when I was not aware of this learning style, it was an amazing thing to me.
Sometimes in those days, I wondered if he was an alien.
As a Visual Learner, one of my favorite things to do during a lecture is to take notes.
I prefer to learn it by highlighting, drawing, pasting, and using colorful notes.
2. Prefer to Listen to Lectures.
Auditory learners prefer lectures because they absorb information better by listening.
Do you want the information to be learned to be in an audio, verbal language format?
Also, do you prefer to listen to lectures than taking note?
If so, you too are probably an auditory learner.
3. Prefer to listen to audiobooks
Audio books are a grate tool for auditory learners.
With the advancement of technology, there are now audiobooks of books that have been written.
If you do not know about audiobooks, Audio book is a recording of a book that read aloud.
If you prefer to listen to an audiobook than read a book, it can also be considered a characteristic of an auditory learner.
4. Prefer informative Discussions.
I have often seen friends discussing what was taught that day after a lecture.
They discuss the lessons learned that day, the problem areas, and so on.
As a Visual Learner, I do not participate in these conversations because I do not have a systematic view of the lecture until I go home and study the note as soon as I hear it.
5. Reads with lip movements.
In the library or at school, If you have studied readers, You may have noticed that some people move their lips accordingly as they read the lessons.
This can also be considered as a characteristic of auditory Learners.
Study Strategies for Auditory Learners
1. Listen to podcasts & audiobooks related to the topic.
If you are an auditory learner Listen to podcasts & audiobooks related to the topic that you study.
As I mention earlier podcasts and audiobooks can be considered as two modern useful, great tools for auditory learners.
Listen them again and agin.
It helps you to store lessons and information clearly in your brain.
2. Record lectures & Lessons.
The other strategie is easy to follow.
It’s need your mobile phone, laptop or any device that you can use to record your voice.
Actually, the strategie is read your lecture aloud and record them and listen them again and again.
3. Participate in Informative Discussions.
It is already well known that an auditory learner learns best by listening.
So discussing the subjects you have to learn with others is also a great strategy to follow as an auditory learner.
4. Read Aloud.
Loud reading can also be considered as another good strategy that an auditory learner can follow.
It is also a good strategy to keep the focus on the lesson while studying.
5. Find Study Bubby.
Having a study friend provides an opportunity to discuss academic information as well as share knowledge.
You can find study bubby on www.mooclab.club.
6. Record Lessons Your Self & listen them again and again.
Auditory learners can listen to the lectures several times by recording the lectures.
When you walk to class, exercise, or get ready for bed you can listen your recordings again and again.
This is a good strategy for auditory learners as they are students who listen actively and learn well.
Teaching Strategies for Auditory Learners
We have mentioned above the strategies that can be used in studying as an auditory learner.
In the next chapter, we are going to cover teaching strategies for auditory learners.
1.Converse with your students.
Converse with your students about subject matters.
If they are learning about computers, ask them about computers.
Not only to hear, give them the opportunity to use vocabulary practically.
If students have used words many times and have the opportunity to speak them aloud, they will remember them better.
2.Encourage students to make oral presentations.
Ask your students to prepare oral presentations on the subject.
This teaching strategy is most effective for hearing learners!

First of all, the definition of an auditory learner is that students who can learn easily by listening to conversations, lectures, etc are called as auditory learners.
Also, auditory learners learn better by listening to a lecture than by reading a book.
Auditory learner’s traits include listening to lectures and lessons, listening to lectures, listening to audio books, and discussing information.
Study strategies for auditory learners include listening to podcasts and audio books, recording your own lessons and listening to them over and over again, and participating in discussions.
Also, talking to your students about subject matters, encouraging students to make oral presentations, and using storytelling to explain lessons are strategies that can be used to teach auditory learners.
If you are also an auditory learner, comment below on the tactics you follow as an auditory learner.
See you in the next post. 🙂
That is a really good tip particularly to those new to the blogosphere. Simple but very accurate information… Many thanks for sharing this one. A must read article.
